Plant Manager

SUMMARY

Responsible for supervising and directing all manufacturing personnel, staffing for production schedules, safety procedures, prioritizing equipment maintenance repairs, and following company policies and procedures. Leads, promotes and facilitates continuous development activities with production employees to drive the use of best manufacturing practices leading to cost savings, waste elimination and improved employee performance.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides general leadership, direction, and coaching for direct reports and their departments.
  • Works with each supervisor to assure the assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget and appropriate cost control activities are performed; monitors expenditures in assigned areas to assure sound fiscal control, and takes corrective action when required.
  • Manages and supervises the plant, to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organizes workloads and operator assignments.
  • Trains, motivates, evaluates and sets goals for manufacturing direct reports; reviews progress and directs changes as needed.
  • Design, implement, foster, and maintain LEAN and continuous improvement programs in support of best practices and efficient and effective manufacturing processes.
  • Collect, advise, and report on the plant performance metrics, obsolescence, inventory goals and related data to ensure data driven decision making.
  • Develop work procedures, and work schedules to maximize plant efficiencies.
  • Performs cost control and cost-out activities; ensures effective and efficient use of personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
  • Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for completeness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and submits reports as may be requested by Senior Management group, President, and Board of Directors.
  • Completes projects as assigned
  • Maintain knowledge of and effectively utilize various databases and ERP system.
  • Maintains facility cleanliness.
  • Performs a variety of project work, focusing on throughput, quality, new processes, material handling, safety, and other projects as assigned

OTHER DUTIES

  • Recommends policy suggestions for adoption by corporate officials.
  • Serves as a member/leader of a variety of employee committees
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five (5+) years manufacturing management experience../li>
  • Relevant combination of education and experience
  • Considerable knowledge of modern manufacturing management systems and policies
  • Considerable knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports.
  • Carry out assigned projects to their completion.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
